The North-east’s newest CO-OP outlet opened its doors in June 2019 at the Hill of Banchory, Aberdeenshire.
Gordon Mitchell Contractors were appointed to complete this commercial build thanks to our trusted local reputation.
We were tasked with building a 385m2 steel frame block built commercial unit, with approximately 40 car parking spaces. Internally the unit houses a large shop floor area and back-of-house facilities including a welfare centre, canteen, refrigerated zone and all other facilities to aid the smooth running of the shop.
We had to ensure that the unit was built to a standard CO-OP specification, where clear signage is displayed on all sides of the building. A cash machine had to be inserted into the wall at the entrance of the shop, as well as bike sheds and a back-of-house delivery area.
Some specific considerations included fitting bollards to protect floor-to-ceiling glass at the car park side. Also, the cladding used to complete the build had to fit in with the aesthetics of the surrounding area.
Some of the materials used included, steel, blockwork, metal profile, insulated cladding and glass.
The job ran efficiently and was completed both on time and on budget. It was great to work with such an established commercial company, and help deliver a new amenity to a local community.
